From the Exhibit Artist Statement
Farida Hughes, new series in this exhibition uses color, shape, and transparency to explore issues of identity. Each abstract “portrait” is an interpretation of a hybrid identity based on stories solicited from friends and acquaintances. Brenda Litman displays abstract paintings with bold, gestural strokes. Her new paintings celebrate various aspects of nature yet reflect her musings on its fragility in this time of accelerating climate change. Through formal investigation, the paintings blend interactions of carefully composed colors to each embrace a new shape of beauty.

At another moment you may feel the raw force of the waves."
