SOLD OUT - Private Tour of Vietnam War Exhibits at MIA
Manju Parikh, AM'78, PhD'88, will host our tour
Join us for an introduction to Artists Respond: American Art and the Vietnam War, 1965-1975. The traveling exhibit organized by the Smithsonian American Art Museum shows the innovative ways artists replied to the war, often in the streets and other public venues. MIA curators have expanded the reach of the Smithsonian exhibit by including protest exhibitions organized in the wake of violence against demonstrators during the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
The tour will also explore the companion exhibit Artists Reflect: Contemporary Views on the American War, featuring artists from the Southeast Asian diaspora who have been deeply engaged with the impact and legacy of the American War in Vietnam.
Our guide, Dr. Manju Parikh, AM '78, PhD '88, is professor emerita of Political Science at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University. Her teaching has been framed by a strong interest in the global issues of development, freedom and human rights. Dr. Parikh taught courses on international relations with a focus on Asian politics, global women’s political concerns and gender equality, and Asian American immigrant experiences.
